NEW DELHI:-On the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima on 4th May, 2015 PM Narendra Modi will address the Birthday celebration of Lord Gautam Buddha at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi. Buddha Pornima or Vesak is recognized as thrice sacred day that marks the Birth, enlightenment and Mahaparinirvana of Lord Buddha. Ministry of Culture, Government of India is giving its support to the Confederation. Dr. Mahesh Sharma will be Guest of Honour.The programme is being organized under the chairmanship of Shri Kiren Rijiju, and Shri Ven Lama Lobsang, Secretary General, International Bodh Confederation. Dr. Udit Raj, Member of Parliament and National Chairman, All India Confederation of SC/ST Organizations and Lord Buddha Club has called upon thousands of its workers to make the event a grand success. Shri Kiren Rijiju thanked the Hon’ble Prime Minister for giving patronage to this programme.
Dr. Udit Raj said that the impact of this event will not only be at the national level but international one. The prominence due to his teachings and philosophy will be recognized. Of course, this process has begun with the help of the present Government of India. There are many countries which have adopted Buddhism as their national religion. This event will not only affect foreign policy but also will attract tourists from within India and outside. Investment and business will increase from north-east countries and will strengthen cultural and commercial ties with them. Shri Kiren Rijiju said that under the present circumstances the importance of Bodh Dharma has increased. Philosophy and teachings of Bhagwan Buddha have been very effective to weaken the forces of disruption, intolerance, terrorism, etc. Organizing this programme by the Government of India will protect the monuments and Buddhist culture and help in spreading Buddhism.
