New Delhi :-Minister of State, Dr. Jitendra Singh has received Rs.25 lakh cheque form Price waterhouse Coopers (PwC) Pvt. Ltd., a reputed organization with a network in 157 countries, towards flood relief work in the State of Jammu & Kashmir. A letter pledging transfer of this amount by real-time gross settlement (RTGS) system to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund was formally handed over here today to Dr. Jitendra Singh by the Vice Chairman of PwC India Foundation, Shri Jaivir Singh. Welcoming the gesture, Dr Jitendra Singh said, even though the Narendra Modi government has been very liberal in extending all kind of financial and logistic help for flood relief in J&K and the Prime Minister himself was among the first to personally visit the Valley following the floods, there is still a lot more to be done and therefore, help from all quarters for this noble cause is always appreciable. Dr. Jitendra Singh said, he was particularly pleased to know that while he had himself, with the help of an NGO, adopted the flood ravaged village of Saddal in Udhampur to be developed as “smart village”, another well known NGO “SEEDS” had undertaken the task of rebuilding a primary school in Pulwama which had been damaged by floods. He further elaborated that while reconstruction of Pulwama school is expected to be complete by the end of 2015, in Saddal nearly 40 hutments had already been allotted to locals and the whole project is likely to be completed by mid-2016.
Ensuring Dr. Jitendra Singh of further help in such humanitarian tasks, Vice Chairman of PwC India Foundation, Shri Jaivir Singh said that their organization was among the first to send relief supplies to the flood affected regions of J&K just a few days within the disaster. In addition, he informed that the PwC India Foundation is in the process of garnering substantive help for more support, specifically for the people of J&K.
